Come in the evening, Come in the morning, Come when expected, Come without warning, Thousands of welcomes you'll find here before you, And the oftener you come, the more we'll adore you. - Old Irish Welcome
Mulberry Manor is an attractive Dutch Colonial, built as a private home in 1925, in a time period when decorative art and architecture was evolving from the ornamentation of the Victorian era into the more modern style of Art Deco. Reflecting a simpler, more relaxed way of life, details original to the home, such as glass doorknobs and beveled glass doors, add a delightful sense of enchantment with sun rays and rainbows streaming through the open airy downstairs. Guests may laze in the sun room with a good book, catch an old movie while lounging in the large, inviting, living room, or play a challenging game of checkers on the life-size checkerboard outdoor patio.
Mulberry Manor Bed & Breakfast is perfect for a visit to the Laurel Highlands or to the Pittsburgh area, being centrally located to both. Only half an hour from Pittsburgh, and 45 minutes from Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, guests have the option to visit attractions in the Laurel Highlands one day, and Pittsburgh the next! Other directions may lead you to the town of Indiana - home of the Jimmy Stewart Museum, or to Johnstown - where the Great Johnstown Flood took place. Altoona plays host to a Railroaders's Museum and the Horseshoe Curve; or take time to visit our beautiful county and state parks for biking, hiking, rafting, the absolute best of western Pennsylvania!
Newhouse Park, located directly behind Mulberry Manor, is a community park featuring a walking track, playground, ball-fields, tennis and basketball courts, and a picnic pavilion. Dairy Queen is adjacent to the park entrance, so a trip for ice cream is highly recommended before walking up to Newhouse for Friday night “Movies in the Park”. Or... take a stroll down memory lane - at the weekly Sunday evening Car Cruise at Dairy Queen, listening to the oldies.
